Supersize it!

I just received a new VoxBox from Influenster with COVERGIRL’s Super Sizer Fiber mascara. It came a little later than expected, but they made up for it by throwing in an eyeliner that I was not expecting, the Perfect Point Plus eyeliner. Bonus points for that, so thank you Influenster.

The mascara came at just the right time because I was in need of a new tube and it’s perfect for my very straight, short, and typically Asian lashes. First impression was surprise at the brush as it is not like a typical spool-type brush with long bristles. The bristles are very short and spread apart. It still picks up a lot of mascara. It definitely volumized my eyelashes and made them appear longer. But it still felt clumpy to me. I don’t know if that’s the formula or just my lack of knowledge on how to apply mascara. I guess I’ll have to try it again and use a different technique. Overall I really liked that it made my lashes stand out but I’m hoping I can make it so that it doesn’t look so clumpy and looks more natural.

Thanks again to Influenster for sending it my way, complimentary so that I can bring you this review.

This little box just “sprang” up on me! 😛 I received Influenster’s spring VoxBox and I actually did not know about any of the items in the box before I received it, so it was all a nice surprise. I actually really liked each of the items in this box because it suits me so well. And now, on with the review!

Cutex Advanced Revival Nail Polish Remover Pads

I don’t paint my nails often, so my nail polish remover hardly gets any action. But Aunt Flo happened to pay me a visit at the opportune moment just as I received my VoxBox so I was able to test out my new nail polish and polish remover for the week. I ended up testing these first on my glitter nails, and you know how difficult it is to remove glitter nail polish. But I was so surprised by how easily these pads removed my nail polish. I had about two coats of the Teal Midnight painted on, and it came off so easily. Although it does state that “one pad cleans all 10 nails,” I think an exception has to be made for glitter nail polish since I ended up needing two. But it actually did clean off all ten nails the second time I painted my nails with a regular nail polish, also two coats. So these were very impressive. Plus they come in neat little packets that you can easily take on-the-go, which in my case, it definitely came in handy since I was on the road when I used them. I give this product 10 nails up! #SoCutex #HealthyNails

Not Your Mother’s Plump For Joy Thickening Hair Lifter

I don’t use too many hair products these days, and probably never really did before either. I usually just do shampoo and conditioner, and even then that’s about every other day if I can manage to squeeze a shower in my schedule. If my kids allow it. So when I saw this, I thought to myself, “Great! Just what I needed for my thin, limp hair.” But then I thought, “When am I ever going to use this?” Being a mother of 3 and a hijabi, situations that call for having my hair done and needing volume are few and far between. So I pretty much used it one night just so that I could review it. And so far, it hasn’t impressed me all that much. Maybe it’s because I’m a hair styling newbie and don’t know how to use it, but it seemed easy enough and self-explanatory. The directions read, “spray into hand and scrunch into hair,” which is exactly what I did. But it still felt pretty limp, even with my amateur styling. Only after maybe 10-15 minutes did I actually feel my hair being a little thicker. But definitely no shine as advertised. So far, I would give it a 3-4 star but I’m not going to give up that easily. I will try again someday and hope for the best. #Plump4Joy

NUXE Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Purpose Dry Oil

I recently started getting into oils because of my sister and also from this new review website I joined, AMZ Review Trader, where you can request to review products for free or at a discount. So far I’ve gotten a face serum, argan oil and castor oil (all for free) which I try to use daily. So I have some experience with these types of oil. I really liked the Nuxe dry oil (I’m not even going to try to write out the whole name again. Why would you make a product name so difficult to pronounce??). Like most other essential oils, it’s multi-purpose so that’s a plus. After I used it once, I noticed a change in my skin right away and my face was smoother and brighter. It also adds a shine to your hair. The other great thing about oils is that you don’t have to use too much to make a difference, so use sparingly. It’s also very classy looking. Love it! #NuxeUS

Sunbelt Bakery Granola Bars: Oats & Honey

I love granola bars so I’m always excited to try new products. This did not disappoint at all! Very delicious and chewy. And my kids love snack bars as well. They’re tasty and easy to pack for picnics and other outings. It’s perfect because my kids are constant snackers (like their dad) and are always complaining for something to eat. I’d love to say more, but what more can I say? They’re good and healthy. Period. I’m definitely going to look out for these at the grocery store and try to see if I can taste the other flavors. Yum yum yum! #SunbeltBakery

Secret Outlast Xtend Invisible Solid

As someone who used to struggle with body odor and sweat stains, I can say honestly that Secret is probably one of the best brands out there. I can only use solids because I hate the feel of gels and roll-ons, and having it be invisible solid is a plus. No white marks on my clothes! This also has a muted scent, so it keeps me smelling clean without excessive fragrance. It also keeps me dry throughout the day, which is great for my white clothes. No more pit stains! I am definitely switching over to this. #OutLastXtend

SinfulColors Nails Polish: Teal Midnight

This is a great quality nail polish. I love SinfulColors. They have great colors and quality products. I’m not a big fan of glitter nail polish (obviously because of the removal process), but once in a while I like to indulge and try out new colors. I was able to get a good solid color with two coats, and it wasn’t hard to remove afterward. I might be tempted now to try another color in the Kylie Jenner collection in the future. #SCKJDenim #SinfulColors

It’s better with “butter”!

I recently received a free coupon for a tub of Country Crock Original from Influenster to try out. I don’t usually buy this brand or this type of “butter” since I usually bake or cook with bars of butter, but every now and then I like to try the spreads because they’re convenient. I was pleasantly surprised that we got the large tub with the coupon. One thing I learned from couponing is to always use a coupon for the largest quantity possible with the lowest price. For example, if you had a coupon for $0.50 off of a box of cereal, you would go with the cheapest box to get the most for your money. Using a small value coupon on an expensive item won’t save you as much money as it would if you spent it on the lowest priced item. And you can always compare price/unit when you do the math to make sure you get the best value. With free coupons, they usually have a maximum amount you can spend despite being “free”. So when you use them, try going for the largest quantity available that doesn’t go over the limit. You can use it even if it does go over, but that defeats the purpose of getting the product for free. Anyway, back to the review!

While I was writing up my short review on the Country Crock website, I was surprised to see so many bad reviews. Apparently, the recipe changed and some long time users were upset because the taste had also changed drastically. Since I don’t buy Country Crock often, I actually can’t be a critic of that. It actually tasted fine for me, and the fact that I can whip it out of the fridge and spread it on toast straight out of the tub is a big plus. Makes it perfect for biscuits, one of my favorites. I’ve also used it to cook stir fry and topped it on pancakes. I haven’t used it for baking yet, but most likely I won’t be doing that since measuring butter by the bar is much easier. Overall, the taste is great and it’s convenient for spreading on breads.

And if it wasn’t obvious before, I received this product for free for my honest and unbiased opinion. 🙂
